Sawyer Hall, Not Tom

Let's see if I can get this post out before my floor meeting at 6...

So I am officially back on campus...Sawyer Hall is now where I call home but Boston will forever be mine. It has been an exhausting 4 days I must say and I'm glad my biceps don't have mouths because they would be screaming. So here's a quick breakdown of how things have gone...

Thursday: I left my heart back in Boston around 7:15 a.m. and arrived in Durham, NH sometime around 8 a.m. Enjoyed a quick bagel at the Bagelry before moving all my stuff into my empty built-up triple. If you don't know, a built-up triple is a room made for two people but they shove three into it. Surprisingly, it's decently sized and there is some room we don't know what to do with. Not that there needs to be anything, but we're contemplating it. Thursday afternoon I went to my meeting at Alexander Hall. I signed up for opening crew (why I moved in on the 27th and not the 30th) and we were preparing the hall with signs and such for the Freshmen moving in on the 28th. That night, I went with a few friends to Dos Amigos in Dover, NH and had a delicious steak quesadilla...and then called it a night to be sore in my room and finish putting everything away.

Friday: Up at 6, out at 7 to move in Freshmen which turned out to take eight hours. 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Some of the students and families were great, helping out, and genuinely thanking us for our help. Others just stood next to their piles of stuff while we lugged their kids pointless crap up three flights. Those people annoyed the hell out of me. After the 8 hours with only a cheese sandwich lunch, it was to HOCO! with the opening crew girls for a little ice cream treat. Later on I would eat a cheese steak at Wildcatessen, delicious delicious! as always. Then it was back to spend the evening/night with my Freshmen roommate Cate who moved in during the morning while I was at Alexander Hall.

Saturday:
was a pretty uneventful day I would say. I slept in a bit and decided to grad some breakfast and head over to Newington to pick up a few things I wanted for the room. Turns out bus service doesn't resume until Monday so I grabbed a fruit salad and a hot chocolate from the Bagelry and read High Fidelity for a while (great book!) before heading back to the dorm to hang with my freshie and the hall director.

Sunday-Today: Today was just as crazy. Woke up early and helped my other roommate (person I lived with last year) move in and then helped a friend move into her dorm. Bought some things for the room, a new lamp to clip to my bed...I have to read a lot. We did a lot of room stuff and just got everyone acquainted with everyone else.

But at this point, I just want to close my eyes and drift of to la-la land. And I did NOT get to post this before my 6 pm meeting. After my meeting and dinner it is now 9:09 pm and I am exhausted. First day of classes tomorrow and I'm hoping each class just throws my syllabus at me and tells me to get lost.

Later children.

Breakfast In A Box

Sorry my lovelies!

I know I have been horrible these past...6 days! And should have gotten a post to you. To quickly wrap up my weekend: Friday night called for Chicago Uno's -with a waiter more delicious than any dish they serve- and an ice cream on the beach from the Banana Boat (Revere Beach that is. Been there forever, go.). Saturday I went to IHOP with some friends from Maine and a few Massholes. They staff already had their hands full until all 7 of us decided to show up. Caught up with one another since it had been about a year or two since we all last saw each other then we booked our asses up Route 1 to Michael's Arts & Crafts. Didn't get anything there but a friend and myself snuck into DSW next door and made away with a pair of heels each. Sunday I found myself in Framingham, MA at another friend's house for some poolin' and pastries. Breakfast that morning was provided by Spinelli's -a potato and cheese panzarotti and an eclair. Sunday night, got home sun drunk and looking to play computer games until I passed out.

But what was I up to today? PACKING. Horrid way to spend a Monday if I say so myself. I'm not a fan of packing- unpacking, I can do. I will be back on the UNH campus on August 27th (10 days and counting), and someone told me I should start packing- I said I would if they helped me- they agreed, so I was stuck packing today. I usually wouldn't begin until oh, the 25th or so. Today was one of those days that you sit on the toilet longer than necessary because the bathroom is the coolest room in the house. I'm not ready for the drama of campus, not at all, here in Boston I live relatively drama free. Here, it's also easy for me to tell those who bring drama with them to fuck-off. They are easily avoided, not-so-much on my campus.

Well that's all I have for you tonight. I'm in the middle of the daunting task of weeding out the bad eggs from my digital music collection. I'll have a better post for you tomorrow with more rhyme and reason. Go listen to some Rancid, make me happy...

Until Tuesday.

Hold your head up high

Today, Yesterday, Letz Get Some Spucky Rolls

My ears hurt from giant headphone pads, my feet are cracking, and my fingers tingle from poster tubes, but that's another post all together...

I ran to Staples this morning for some paper-products and on the way home stopped by my Nana's for a visit. I don't see her that often, as often as I would like, and well- she's not getting any younger. Nana Furtado, originally a Fucci before marriage, was born in 1918. Yep, she's 91 and still living on her own. Fully functional, just a little slower, and completely there. Nothing missing. I want that to be me at 91 and yes I plan to live until 91. I'll die on my own terms.

We spent a lot of time talking about East Boston when my grandfather (her son) was young, all of which was sparked by a conversation about her refrigerator that we figured out was 44 years old and still running perfectly. I wish I was a part of a time where two movies were a quarter, you could win prizes, and watch cartoons all in the same. Then again I wouldn't be writing to you know online, in a blog, with the internet, but that's ok. I wouldn't know the difference. Then we got talking about how much a quarter was worth, and a store that would give you two spucky rolls (sandwich meat included). Don't know what a spucky roll is? Google Image that shit. It's a short sub roll. Commence- my craving for a sub from Roy's, also in East Boston. I've been going there forever, it was there before I was born and the family that owns it has known me since I was in diapers. They also know my order by now: Small Pepperoni and Cheese with mustard and pickles, extra pickles in a cup on the side because I want to eat them. It still gets the raised eyebrow or head shake since the first time I ordered it.

Enough reminiscing. I'm going to indulge an internet addiction of mine. The COMBICHRIST tour blog written by Joe Letz. He lives behind his camera when they're out on the road and supply me with enough humorous goodies to keep me going all night. Check out the blog, unless you shame drunken humor and have a stick up your ass, otherwise- don't even bother. But for a laugh: combichrist's journal and here's a little video from Joe's YouTube account (fuxleep) that accompanies the blogging.

Off to the new post, until next time, take that stick out your ass and shove it into your complaining gob.

This shit will fuck you up,
Love,

The Black Pearl: Johnny Depp Not Included

The Black Pearl- Newport, Rhode Island. Not Pirates of the Caribbean, but that was the end of my day.

The beginning of my day started out in Boston (home) where I set out on an hour and half long drive to Newport, Rhode Island (not home). As a belated birthday gift I was being taken to the Newport mansions. Talk about MANSIONS. These are the type of places I picture when I read books about wealthy estates in 18-19th century England and France, granted most of the homes I saw were trying to live up to the French elite. Since I wasn't allowed to take photos inside, google that shit because I don't feel like uploading what photos I do have from my cell phone. Maybe later. Mansions I saw: The Elms, The Breakers, Rosecliff, and Marble House. It's amazing the pointless shit people do with their money. I'd have no use for a home so large but if I would choose one to live in, it would be the Elms...the Breakers is so PLUSH it's pretty much tacky. The idea of sliding down the velvet covered stairs on serving trays was pretty appealing though, something the Vanderbilt children did at one time on the same stairs. There wasn't enough time for another home but 5 mansions for three adults: $93.00. Glad I wasn't paying.

Once the wall of fog rolled in, pretty solid in usual Rhode Island fashion, we set out to the wharf in hopes of eating and finding the Black Pearl. I had never eaten there before but my company was out to kill until that restaurant was found. Apparently they liked it. I won't lie, I fucking loved it there- just not the bill. We didn't sit on the fancy side, the tavern works for me. Small, dark, noisy as fuck...but the waitresses remember everything without paper, always refill your drinks, and make sure you're as comfortable as possible. As I was told I could order anything I wanted, I did; Appetizer: Simple garlic bread in fancy circles, Entree: Filet Mignon, butterfly cut, Dessert: Cheese and Fresh Fruit (fucking nasty cheese, probably expensive). All in all, bill including tip. $194.00. Now that may not be expensive to some big city spenders, and I'm from the big city, but I'm no big spender and I was sick at the sight of it...Even though I wasn't paying.

I got sick, once again, later on when I walked into a music shop and came across some amazing vinyl records that I would have bought on the spot if I had a record player. I bought Give 'Em the Boot 1, 2, and 5 on CD since I owned 3 & 4 and they were about 5 bucks each. All in all, a $300 dollar day that kind of makes me want to vomit but was an amazing time that I will always remember for the people and places I saw.

That was it, that was my Wednesday. There was a lot more to it but that could take a bunch of posts and this one was difficult enough for me to get up.

Keep an eye out for record players for me: preferably in decent condition or decently priced and not in terrible condition. Needed.

Until next time,

Get your hands dirty

And So, I Ate

That is the summary of my weekend. I ate. Friday was dinner at, Friday's, clever. Ordered the petite Sirloin with a side of their mashed potatoes with cheese. They're brilliant and delicious. Saturday was IHOP. Three eggs, three buttermilk pancakes, and a side of corn beef hash. Why have I eaten so much? Tomorrow is my birthday and people seem to like to feed me. What's on the menu for tomorrow? More steak, that's how it goes.

I would like to thank Twitter this weekend for helping me connect with an old friend of mine. Funny how the internet works. I would also like to thank it for keeping me in touch via cell phone while I was without internet.

This weekend was one of movies, including: Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels (seen many times), Dog Soldiers (also a favourite), many movies on FEAR NET -on TV although they have Free Movies online, and one called 2,001 Maniacs. The last one being something new and probably the most, intriguing. A cannibalistic ghost town in the south targets "yankees", has a jubilee, seduces, cooks, and eats them. Brilliant. I believe it's an Eli Roth movie? I don't know, him and Mr.Mambo made an appearance so I can only expect it was one of his. Lots of hot maidens looking to get a piece of their new guests. Sexy, ruthless, and hungry. Crazy hick guys with guitars that follow you around, narrating with their songs. Hucklebilly (played by Ryan Fleming) was a personal favourite. Young, bearfoot boy running around and lynching cats, each for a silver dollar. Go watch it for free- and Robert Englund is in it. Go Freddy! (That was definitely a list-like review because you just watch it, laughing, all the while thinking wtf mate?)

I probably won't be around for most of tomorrow so I don't know if I'll be able to get a post to you. Give me a break, I've aged a year, ha! In the meantime, go read a book or something. Or watch free movies on the internet, which ever. Find some good movies for me, I need a few new ones.

Go eat some cake for me! Or have a drink, whiskey is my poison.

Happy early fuckin birthday to me!
