Oh dear

Hello my darlings,

I apologize that it has been almost 2 months since I've written to you last.
The semester began and I lost all track of time and have been busier than you could probably imagine. I'm working on a "list" post so you will hear more from me soon.

In recent news, drug bust on Frat Row. 9 students arrested. Yay, school.

Got the bug,

It's Been A While

Hey!

Sorry I've been absent for such a long time (ok, it hasn't been THAT long). I've just been dealing with banking and a loan company so things are pretty hectic lately.

I'm enjoying the last of my summer so my blog has been suffering a little bit. So has everything else that I have a responsibility to. Then again, I wouldn't be a good procrastinator if I kept up with everything now would I?

I took a dip in a friends pool today and got stuck in some horrible traffic in the tunnel (but that's Boston for ya!). I'll be updating napalm and graphite later on tonight - or so I claim, but don't hate me if I forget.

Later!

Bash It

"Bash" what?
I'm talking a Birthday Bash.
Miniature golf in the rain, thunder, & lightning. Quite exhilarating. Birthdays are nothing like what they used to be are they?

All I need to have around me is friends and that's a good enough birthday party for me. It's getting all too materialistic, don't you think? Especially with the pressure of buying presents and making appearances. Of course, pretty much, everyone enjoys gifts but some people take it a little too seriously.

I like dinner. Is it a date?

Until later,

McMuffin: Would you like to empty the contents of your stomach please?

If it's early in the morning, you've already been awake for a few hours, and you hear your stomach yelling at you...do not, I repeat, DO NOT even think about an egg mcmuffin from McDonald's. You will empty so fast, it's like a stomach pump on crack.

That's all I really had to say about the McMuffin; it ruined my morning.

What's actually on my mind is Sunday. it's the anniversary of my exiting my mother. Also known as my birthday. Can you guess how old I'll be?

Have a great weekend. Back to you all in a few days.

Tag-Along

Today was a day for the green bills. I never knew how badly I needed clothing. So, got up early this morning, left early, got home much later. It's a warm, humid day that makes you want to curl up in a ball and take a nap - and I decided to go shopping and do speed changing in the fitting rooms. Insanity is not that far off.

Not only that, I HATE spending money. I do like buying things for myself (I actually like buying things for other people much more) but afterwards, the numbers usually give me agita (google search it).

Happy Note: I made off with a kick ass AC/DC tshirt for short change. Sweet. Vintage. [Still don't understand 'vintage', another fancy word for old? AC/DC was only the 80s, NOT old].

Ok, I have an essay to finish and have to post on napalm and graphite now.

Stay free. Love,
Napalm.

Summer Drag

Could it possibly be that I am the only person who enjoys the slowly painful sweat-filled days of the summer? It's true, I love the dog days but it seems the people I surround myself are too busy complaining. Now when the 8 degrees without wind chill influence days roll around the end of this autumn begin, who will be complaining? The same ones complaining about the heat.

You just can't seem to win with some people. Maybe that's typical New England. No, I can't say that. New Englanders are some of the best, most laid back bunch around; taking one thing after another in stride. Guess there's a few people who need to take a ride of the Waaahmbulance.

Enjoy it while it lasts.

napalm and graphite

Finally, the second blog is born.

napalm and graphite

Blog description is the first post on the page.

Lot o' love.
-Napalm

Why?

I've had a lot of messages sent my way about why I don't do certain things with my blog. The only answer and advice that I have for those who present these suggestions in a not-so-nice manner: You can always create a blog of your own.

I'll take any constructive criticism you have, but don't talk out of the lower end of your anatomy. Thanks.

Love you all.

Alien Abduction?/ Lyrics of the Day 22 July, 2008

No, not an abduction. Just the light staring down at you from a seat in the dentist chair. And I have one tip for those who easily take to Novocaine (I usually don't but guess something else was going on with my body today). If you take easily to it, blow your nose before your appointment. Do not laugh. Today the entire right side of my face went numb and I was concerned that I couldn't breathe through my nose, let alone control want substances may escape.

Now that I shared that anecdote of my day, now for my usual lazy cop-out (a.k.a lyrics).

DESCENDENTS LYRICS
" 'Merican"

We flipped our finger to the king of england
Stole our country from the indians
With god on our side and guns in our hands
We took it for our own
A nation dedicated to liberty
Justice and equality
Does it look that way to you?
It doesn't look that way to me
The sickest joke I know

[Chorus]
Listen up man, I'll tell you who I am
Just another stupid american
You don't wanna listen
You don't wanna understand
So finish up your drink and go home

I come from the land of Ben Franklin
Twain and Poe and Walt Whitman
Otis Redding, Ellington,
The country that I love
But it's a land of the slaves and the ku klux klan
Haymarket riot and the great depression
Joe McCarthy, Vietnam
The sickest joke I know

[Chorus]

I'm proud and ashamed
Every fourth of july
You got to know the truth
Before you say that you got pride

Now the cops got tanks 'cause the kids got guns
Shrinks pushin' pills on everyone
Cancer from the ocean, cancer from the sun
Straight to Hell we go

[Chorus 2x]

Stretched Thin/Lyrics of the Day 15 July 2008

Some thing has to be going on when it's been a long week and it's only Tuesday. One word can explain it all- money. Do I really need to go any further? Being a college student without any money is not a good place to be, stress-level-wise and employers around here are purposely (not all but most I applied to) waiting for a time when there are less college students around. I suspect it has something to do with the fact they want an employee that's a bit more long-term. Forget the fact that I actually EARNED a high school diploma the first time around and that I probably have more volunteer experience than the typical teenager, but since I've never had a legal job (under the table) and am leaving at the end of August - I'm not worth giving a shot. I don't know, it's just tiring...and I'm in debt before I even step foot on campus because of the usual student loans.

So, returning to my usual sanity provider; I'm going to throw on the headphones and breathe deeply ha ha. Here are the lyrics of the day and maybe I'll add a video for you. Courtesy of the all-powerful YouTube and my YouTube account.

Joe Strummer & the Mescaleros Lyrics
"Redemption Song"
Original by Bob Marley

Old pirates yes they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
But my hand was made strong
By the hand of the almighty
We forward in this generation
Triumphantly
Won't you help to sing, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, redemption songs
Redemption songs

Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery
None but ourselves can free our minds
Have no fear for atomic energy
Cause none of them can stop the time
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book

So won't you help to sing, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, redemption songs
Redemption songs, redemption songs

Old pirates yes they rob I
Sold I to the merchant ships
Minutes after they took I
From the bottomless pit
How long shall they kill our prophets
While we stand aside and look
Some say it's just a part of it
We've got to fulfill the book

So won't you help to sing, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, these songs of freedom
Cause all I ever had, redemption songs
These songs of freedom, these songs of freedom

Lyrics of the Day: 7 July, 2008

The Unseen
"Negative Outlook"

I think so fucking hard my heads gonna explode.
The hate replaces blood, and it's all that I know.
Your words mean total nothing our existence is corruption
That's how I see it why don't you give it a try.
Sadness becomes anger and I don't ask why.
I've seen so much truth theirs no more tears to cry.
It ran out years ago the wells gone dry
I no longer care and now I realize I have a

Negative outlook
That's why I have a
Negative outlook
And it wont change

Do I really care sometimes I wish I could
Then I think what I despise and it feels really good.
I wont worship false power as you destroy earth.
I don't give a damn what you say its worth.
What makes me feel this way. what have I become.
The seasons still change but the damage is done.
Its just another culture forced to die.
No cares no conscience I'm desensitized with a

Negative outlook
That's why I have a
Negative outlook
And it wont change

And that is how I realized I am negative

LARS FREDERIKSEN & THE BASTARDS
LYRICS

"Campbell, CA"

Well the light from the alleys brings warmth to the night
We're meager disciples they gather in rite
It's time for the indignant paupers to speak
This town belongs to me
The gravel lines archways
The perilous streets were desperate deeds
Find buyers in heaps
God bless the concrete and chaos it keeps
This town belongs to me
The wind from the ocean it whistles in trees
My mouth stagnated by the cold that is brings
The end of the world is closer than it seems
This town belongs to me.

What if there were no hypothetical questions?

I know, I'm a bit late but I'm a slow blogger. But this is for George Carlin. One hell of a comedian. Abso-fuckin-lutely hilarious. If you've never heard/seen his stand up I command thee to leave now to search his name on YouTube.com

These are some of my favourite Carlin quotes. Enjoy.

"Scientists announced today that they have discovered a cure for apathy. However, they claim no one has shown the slightest interest in it."

“When cheese gets it's picture taken, what does it say?”

“Frisbeetarianism is the belief that when you die, your soul goes up on the roof and gets stuck.”

“Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.”

“Men are from Earth, women are from Earth. Deal with it.”

“The very existence of flame-throwers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done.”

“Always do whatever's next.”

“Don’t sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.”

“I think people should be allowed to do anything they want. We haven't tried that for a while. Maybe this time it'll work.”

“I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.”

“God had intended us not to masturbate he would've made our arms shorter.

"Women like silent men, they think they're listening."

"Electricity is really just organized lightning."

"Fighting for peace is like fucking(or screwing) for virginity."

"If you can't beat them, arrange to have them beaten."

There are so many more I could list, including his amazing 7 words.

But truly, google him, YouTube him, search him wherever. Love him. You can't deny it. Enjoy.

Internet Window Shopping: My Musical Loves

I usually never read the band descriptions on interpunk.com...I don't even have a credit card to buy anything off of interpunk but I was sticker searching (Because I'm a sticker/patch whore) and decided if there was a band I'd click on...it'd be OPIV

Operation Ivy

I don't remember exactly how I met him; he was just that bouncy, floppy kid who always had a smile and some excited words for everyone that first spring at Gilman. I knew he'd played in a band called Basic Radio, and I knew that he was bummed that they'd broken up. Then I went away for three months, and when I got back the first thing I heard was that there was this great new band at Gilman called Operation Ivy and that they were playing that night. When I got to Gilman, there was Tim out front, only now he wanted to be called Lint, and he was more excited than I'd ever seen him. "I got a new band, Larry. It's called..." Yeah, you got it. I went inside and watched one of the most amazing shows I'd ever seen, and when Tim got off stage and asked me what I thought, I said, "Let's make a record." At the time there was no Lookout Records, and I didn't have the slightest idea how such a record would ever come about, but I just knew it had to. How important were Operation Ivy to Lookout Records and the whole East Bay scene? I kind of doubt we'd even be here without them. Tim and Matt went on to form Rancid and gain even more fame, but they never forgot their roots: listen to them sing about the Operation Ivy story on the Rancid song "Journey To The End Of The East Bay," where Tim proclaims about Gilman: "That place was sacred ground to me." But though Tim and Matt are the Op Ivy alumni that everyone knows about, it would be foolish indeed to forget Jesse Michaels, who not only penned their brilliant and evocative lyrics and sung them in a passionate, instantly recognizable voice that could soar from throaty growl to angelic innocence in the turn of a phrase, but also created all the artwork that now adorns punkers' shirts and packs around the globe. Anchored by the seemingly effortless, but never less than excellent drumming of Dave Mello, Operation Ivy came and went with the fleeting incandescence of a comet that will remain emblazoned forever on the consciousness of anyone who ever had the privilege of witnessing them in their glory. They stand, and undoubtedly always will, among the handful of bands that truly matter.

Consumerism & Pigeon Shit

You go to the mall.
Park under the overhang.
Come back and there's pigeon shit on the windshield.
You suggest a change in construction/architecture to accommodate your aggravation.
The pigeons weren't thinking about your comfort when you accommodated for your consumerist needs by building the concrete structure in their hypothetical 'living rooms'.

The pigeons need to seriously lay down a "finders keepers" law.

Man I'm ranting tonight.

I'm So Bored of the U.S.A.

Not only is it the name of the Clash song I'm listening to it's also how I feel. I've been planning a 9-10 day trip to Spain for almost a year now and it's closer than ever. My flight leaves on Saturday February 16th and I'm dying to get out of here! haha I haven't traveled much (give me time I'm still young); been to 4 countries -soon to be 5 - outside of the United States. Just thought I'd share my current thought :) And I will most definitely post photos and news after my trip.

Take care,

Anticipations kills!! When?!? Tell me when!!

RANCID ENTERS STUDIO
[parts excluded]

Band teams with Long-time Producer Brett Gurewitz to Record Follow-up to 2003's Acclaimed Indestructible

(Los Angeles) The incomparable punk band Rancid began recording today in a studio on the California coast with long-time friend, producer and label president Brett Gurewitz, who has worked with Rancid on virtually every record in their extensive, accomplished career.

...a new Rancid record is different -something special, never hasty or perfunctory, as their fervent, untiring fans have learned over the years. A Rancid record is an organic thing, not cultivated, but rather harvested wild; filled to the brim with all the living done in between stints in the studio. This record will be no different. Sweated over, hammered out and brought forth, the yet untitled release will have all the hard knocks and big wins of lives lived prodigiously...

...Slated for a release later in the year on Epitaph/Hellcat, the new Rancid record promises to be a phenomenal addition to a consistently exceptional career.

Receiving Messages

So earlier I received an email from someone who quickly scrolled through my blog. There comment was something along the lines of -why don't I have anything about current events or things that really matter? So I'm going to blog the answer. Why? Because this is a blog I created for myself and I clearly state in the description of it that it's just something for me to let my thoughts out on. They may not be life changing realizations nor may they be about politics, war, or any other event that's consider debatable and relevant...it's sort of like an online journal. To share my most ridiculous and random thoughts I choose to share. I apologize not every word that comes from my keyboard is a fragment of genius. I don't have many readers, most days no one even reads these posts of mine -but I don't mind....I still write like someone is reading just to do it....because I want to.
Simple enough.

Take care.

One Missed Call...wtf?

Ok so I managed to forget about this movie coming out until I saw an advert. for it online...

I don't know when it comes out or if it's already...but if it is already and you've seen it -let me know what you think of it.

My guess is the U.S. fucked up another good movie from Japan that they should have just left alone....

anyone remember Chakushin ari?
I bet not....or Chakushin ari 2? Are they going to screw over the sequel too? (even though the first was much better than the sequel)

I don't care if I don't speak Japanese but I prefer a good movie in subtitles over a bad movie in English.

........
that's it for this morning.
take it easy.

Going Digital; and other things today

I finally got my digital camera and I'm like a kid with candy (hooray for outdated sayings). Now I may actually be useful at events haha. As for now I'm finding anything and everything to take photos of. It's also going to be very helpful in my Graphic Arts and Animation classes.

On another note -no matter your political affiliation. If you're a fan of poetry, I suggest picking up Red Sky At Night: Socialist Poetry. I believe it has somewhere abouts 170+ poems and I'm slowly making my way through it a week after buying it. Absolutely love it -if you're a fan of poetry as always.

Happy 2008.
Love ya.
