UrbanDictionary.com
Holy fuck darlings.
I am in the Urban Dictionary ranks. Check it out. Very cool, very cool. Maybe you could submit your own definition of moi to expand on the one there? I would love you for it.
Hope you're all enjoying April's showers. I know we've been getting a lot of thunderstorms which means I'M PLAYING IN PUDDLES! Oh yeah.
I'm also looking to spruce up the layout a little bit and am happily taking suggestions from YOU. I could very well go about and do this myself but I'm looking for some creative input...I love all you creative minds out there.
Now to go fight the hoards of tourists to get back in my dorm.
kickstart the fight,

FML
No, this is not a blog about the ridiculous FML website.
I simply feel the need to shout FUCK MY LIFE out the window. [Then I remember I live on a college campus and go shout out my window.]
Ever have one of those days where you're falling asleep at breakfast, in class, on the bus, and at work? Well that's me today, yay me. I work with children, grades first - fourth and they got to go out to the playground today - this means 2 hours of freeze tag, underdogs on the swing set, and trips to the nurses office.
Exam today, quiz after, work, now homework and job applications. But life truly is grand. Glad I'm still breathing.
I don't know if I brought this up, but weeks ago my 13 year old cousin was admitted to Boston Children's Hospital with a virus that attacked her entire body. She was put into a coma and was on a ventilator.... she swelled up like a balloon and her skin was turning black from broken blood vessels and other vein issues.
With that aside, I wanted to share the good news that she has been on the road to recovery, recently making small "speaking noises" which she wasn't capable of before.
If anyone would like to send an encouraging message, please visit http://www.carepages.com/carepages/KatieJeter
Take care everyone.
Take a nap,

P.S. This is what I listen to, to get my work done:

Back on Campus
Yes, I am back on campus. It wasn't long enough and that's all I have to say. I'm writing a paper and depriving myself of sleep, what else is new. I'll post soon.

it's one of those days

So TODAY is St. Patrick's Day as you probably already know. A day for people who aren't even Irish to go out and get drunk on behalf of the Irish. I'm probably just eating a lot of food (ugh).
I'm going to be putting up new posts on napalm and graphite and playing with napalm shortly. So I'll meet you there.
Enjoy the festivities today.

playing with napalm
The birth is slow and painful, but playing with napalm is slowly making its way into this world of mine.
In other news: Brand New was amazing! Brilliant! Superb! And other wonderful adjectives. Jesse Lacey is the man. Enough said.
Here's a semi-decent video I tried to take of the last song of the night:
I didn't end up taking my mini-road trip to Delaware due to "ticket complications" but it's cool. My friend from New York came and I hid her in my room for a week...shh...
Awesome times my friends.
Well, off to do some editing and more procrastinating as usual...
Anyone else craving chinese food?

Books, Brand New, and Delaware
Hello there,
So I'm sitting in Murkland Hall on the UNH campus in Durham, NH. Why? Because I have Russian class in a little while. I most likely won't finish this before class and will have to post it later on while I'm not doing my FAFSA or research paper.
I just wanted to rant on the ridiculous amount of money we, as college students, are required to spend on BOOKS ALONE to take courses. My schedule for the Fall 2009 is pretty much cement, except for one of my courses. I'm continuing with my Russian language, I'm taking a Lit. Analysis course so I can declare my English major next semester, and another Russian culture course (as it is a requirement for both the major and minor in Russian - which one I'm working towards I have no idea). The one course that's on the fence is German 401. I have decided I want to start learning a third foreign language (aside from Spanish and Russian) but the one thing holding me back is the book price- $222.00 NEW from my bookstore. Obviously I'm not going to even consider purchasing from the bookstore, but COME ON....THAT'S RIDICULOUS!

In other news: March 7th, BRAND NEW will be playing on my campus...I am beyond excited to see Jesse Lacey belt his heart out on stage. He truly kicks my ass. And after the show, I am jumping in a car with my roommate and driving to Delaware. I will miss Monday classes and will be back sometime Monday night. Six state road trip in under two days. Got to love it. Then a friend from New York is going to be staying over....
Why isn't it next weekend yet?
Once again, as always, love,

It's Only Wednesday
Fuck my life.
My roommate and I have adopted that saying as our motto for the semester. Not because our lives are horrible (actually, we're pretty content most of the time) but because it's the best way to verbalize our frustration. Go on, give it a try, just sigh and go "Aaaa...fuck my life." See?
I just got back from work a little while ago. I'm exhausted. My job includes corralling fourteen 6 year olds for an hour and then keeping my eye on 50+ kids for 2 more hours (ages 6-10). Obviously, I'm not doing this alone but they still beat the hell out of me every time.
In other news, I'm still in the confusing stages of deciding on a major. I have decided that I will declare the English Major offered by my University by the end of next year. There are four types of English majors (English, English/Teaching, English/Literature, English/Journalism) but I chose that one since I could get the most flexibility and choice from it. What am I going to do with it? No clue. I just know it'll encompass some of the things I love (reading, writing, analysis, etc).
Another consideration is dual majoring. What do I want to dual major in? RUSSIAN. Yes, that did just come out of left field. I took Russian on a whim last semester. We have to fulfill a language requirement and I was DONE with Spanish after 6 years. I wanted to take a language that wasn't the typical french, spanish, latin etc. I ended up loving it and I owe a lot of that to мой профессор Aleksa. She is amazing and very enthusiastic about her class.
I have not yet declared English major due to prerequisites I have to take. I'm taking care of that in the fall. The reason I haven't declared Russian major is for exactly one reason. Russian Majors are REQUIRED to spend a semester in Russia. I'm not totally opposed to that fact but the top 5 places I want to study have been: England, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, and the Czech Republic. I didn't tack the last one on until recently...someone sold me and Prague sold itself. I have the feeling I'll most likely declare it anyhow...I'll keep ya posted.
So, basically, feel free to talk college with me...or whatever.
I'm driving with my roommate over to Dover to pick up her brother's car in a bit so I am off.
Stay free,

Shiver me timbers!
Well hello…
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I have to apologize for that one. Things have been a bit crazy around here. I got back to campus on Sunday (Jan 18th) and it's just been chaos pretty much since. I'm taking some time out from writing a paper, while I'm in the quietness of the lounge, to throw a few words your way.
Classes have started this week and not as happy with them as I was last semester. I'm undeclared and have a lot of possible majors/minors floating around in my head...so this semester was pretty much dedicated to General Education requirements and two interest classes. I'm continuing my study of Russian (by the end of this semester I'll have one year under my belt)...so if you feel like speaking no-russki to me, give it a shot.
Other than that, I've been contemplating the future. What a natural thing to do right? Exactly, and that's pretty much where I've been. I'm looking for a direction in my life but I'm not really searching all that hard. Sticking to one thing seems to me like I failed somewhere or I settled so picking a mode of studying, well that's going to be a difficult one for me.
One thing that pisses me off is almost every college student has someone telling them what to do. I think we should all invest in megaphones and set up a day to give a loud, resounding "fuck off" to a bunch of people. Sounds good to me, sound good to you? I mean come one, since we were in middle school people have been talking about the "after high school" time period and it's kind of like "Ok, I'm here. You pushed me here, now let me figure out shit for myself."
Don't get me wrong, it's nice to have HELP...when of course it is actually help and not someone telling you what you should do with your life and scramming shit down your throat.
On the bright side, I enjoy being back on campus for the most part. I've missed my friends and the people I live with the most...if I could just spend a bunch of time on campus without anymore obligations (ha ha!) that would be amazing.
I start work again (like a job work not class work) on Monday. I'm not feeling it. Not at all. If I didn't have work/study that required me to work on campus or at a nonprofit organization, I'd just forget it all and work a typical mall job or at Rite Aid or something.
Just live your life people. I love you.
