Photo Fiasco and the Original Bunny Gang

Sorry there hasn't been a post in a bit, but it's hard to top the last post- and probably will be for a while. Technically, the last post was for Thursday but something is wrong the timestamps. I have no idea, as long the day is right, but don't take the times as they are, just pay attention to the dates. I've been starting a lot of posts off with blockquotes, what's up with that?

I wanted to make sure all you lovely people got a post before I disappeared for the weekend.

So this morning I decide to see how my camera was doing after Tuesday (see previous post for explanation) and took a photo of my room. When I went to the memory I had noticed about 15 photos of the Warped Tour had returned to what I thought was a blank memory card. With every photo I took more and more photos I though I lost had returned until ALL of my WARPED TOUR footage was returned. All those awesome photos&video of NOFX and Bad Religion! I was jumping around the kitchen like an excited pogo kid on crack this morning. You can add me on Facebook to see the photos and video or just send me a message, since my photos and videos are visible to everyone. I'd just have to send you the links.

Another exciting discovery I made last night: Nathen Maxwell and the Original Bunny Gang. For those of you who don't know, Nathen is the bass player and back-up vocalist for the group Flogging Molly. Ever since I bought Drunken Lullabies -my first Flogging Molly album- I have wanted Mr. Maxwell to sing more and more songs, even front his own band. AND NOW, it has come true! My dream of a Nathen Maxwell Fronted band. It's a very exciting ordeal, and I love his voice. You can hear him do lead vocals in songs like "Queen Anne's Revenge" and "Cruel Mistress". Another personal favourite of mine is him doing The Descendent's "Suburban Home" which can be seen here:

Although the vocals of "Suburban Home" are different than those on his new album, due out August 19th. You can hear The Original Bunny Gang's sound on his myspace: www.myspace.com/nathenmaxwell Drums are provided by Nathen's dad who actually introduced him to the likes of Flogging Molly, so big props for Papa Maxwell for supplying Flogging with one of my favourite bassists, and to Nathen for just being Nathen.

That's all I have for you today my loves. Any questions or comments live them here or follow my links. Until next time...

Who's Shapiro? Warped Tour 2009: Just about what I expected...

Sorry for the wait. Post recap of: 21 July 2009

And what did I expect? Not much. Out of the numerous bands there that day, I was determined to see three of them. The rest, I couldn't have cared less if they were playing at all. For the line up - Check out www.warpedtour.com

Now don't get me wrong, it was great for a lot of people and I'm glad. I also love the idea of Warped Tour's festival style with the ridiculous amount of bands that do play. I just personally disliked most of the bands -felt like so many just sounded all the same- and also felt like years past have been multiple times better. And some guy at South Station was rambling on about "Shapiro" to a person in the seat across from him that only he could see. Who the hell is Shapiro?

It rained like a motherfucker! And that is no lie. Every inch of me was soaked, including my electronics. This is why you get this post so late, I was PISSED all morning. I had photos and videos of three bands I wanted to see, total number of all media on my camera when I left the venue: 222 The number of photos that were uploaded to my computer before the camera had an error and deleted practically everything: 61

All anger aside- Bad Religion, NOFX, and Anti-Flag completely kicked my ass, PWND me, and all that other shit- they were wicked. I went to Warped in'04 and missed Anti-Flag, so getting to see them front and center was pure sex. They played around 2:55, mixing old and new into their set, keeping everyone happy. All the 12/13 yr olds who only knew of their last two albums eyed them, confused, as the rest of us broke out, chanting along to "You gotta die, gotta die, gotta die for your government, gotta die for your country, that's shit!" They were an amazing, amazing, wicked awesome, best part of my day by far. Chris #2 (Barker) is always the highlight of my life. Talk about some fucking energy, that guy has it. The vocals, the moves, the usual jumping into the audience, and of course, the wall of love. You have to be there to know. Also, you have a few photos of him here from the performance because (he is THE MAN) they were the only ones that survived from the bands I enjoyed :( but hurrah for AF. They rocked my world.

(5:55 p.m.)Bad Religion was in fine form, no matter how many jokes they make about their age, they still own you on stage. An awesome performace of Generator, one of my personal favourites, got the crowd moving. I had great footage that was lost, video of "Sorrow" and even a guest appearance by NOFX's lead singer Fat Mike, joining in for the chorus of "21st Century Digital Boy" [<- there are parenthesis in there somewhere but I'm too exhausted to remember]. After the BR set, NOFX took over, also in fine form but in a more intoxicated manner. Fat Mike enjoying Vodka & milk from a red solo cup on stage. An "old man's drink" as he says. The set was covered in rainbow flags as the guys played on the idea of this being one of the more liberal states in the nation. The boys being ridiculously, and humorously liberal themselves, meant no offense and anyone who took any are assholes. "Bob" was a crowd favourite of the night, as well as The Racist Joke Song. They also graced us with a new song they had just written in the bus about Massachsuetts, I loved it, I agree...it's too fucking cold here. Probably one of my favourite in the NOFX set was their cover of Rancid's "Radio", but that's just because Rancid are the loves of my life. After NOFX, I said FUCK IT. Skipped out on the 2-3 other bands I didn't want to see and waited on the warm, dry bus to take me back to Boston.

Well that was most of my Warped! There was more to it but I don't want to own your life by having you read anymore of this blog....BUT! I am now the proud owner of two RANCID tickets for TUESDAY, at the House of Blues [Boston] with Rise Against and I believe Billy Talent (I didn't know BT was still around) so I am a happy narrator. Until next time, where I may share more Warped with you.

Keep it wet.

An AntiClimatic Morning

Just a little note: If you do get a post from me tomorrow -Tuesday the 21st- it's going to be another late one. I will be at Warped Tour tomorrow and don't know when I will be back or if I will want to write at that time.

Evening you delicious people! You have no idea what me and the internet have been up to today. Buy, sell, trade, tickets- it's all about tickets! I'm too addicted to my music to stop! I'm trying to see Rancid & Rise Against next week all the while trying to hook up with some kid who wanted to buy a Warped Tour ticket for TOMORROW! It's all quite insane but hey, whatever happens - happens. Also got my loan today, approved, so now I can go to school and be in debt some more! Fun fun.

I honestly don't have any inciteful reviews for you today. I could review a new movie I watched earlier or talk about some music but this morning has jsut been too stressful. There may be a chance I have the urge to post later, and if I do I wil be right back here typing. Tomorrow night or Wednesday will sure to have a much longer post seeing as I will have to tell you all about my Warped exploits. Hit up www.warpedtour.com to check out the line-up [which I'm not too happy about] or for more dates.

"God bless the concrete and chaos it keeps."
Until further notice.

FRIDAY HAS COMETH!

It is true, today is Friday and my weekend shall now commence. In 2 hours and counting...

These past two days seem to have been the longest of the summer. Not time-wise but by responsibility. I was working on my Russian review and have mailed it to my professor today for her corrections. After this week I hope I speak Russian in my sleep. I also need to get moving on my student loan, but who the HELL actually wants to go through that process? I should have a movie review after this weekend. Probably a half-assed movie review unless I love it. I don't even know which film we're going to see.

For those of you who know me...I don't drive. Nope. No car, no license, not even a permit. I have feet, mooching, and the good ol' MBTA to get me where I need to go...but for Tuesday, I need to get out to MANSFIELD from Boston, for the Warped Tour. I never heard of this before, but I'm sharing this weeks discovery with you: ROCK BUS That's right. Rock Bus. It's picking me up (and others of course) at South Station, taking me out to Mansfield before show time, and bringing me back to South Station that night. It's brilliant. It has spots for MANY shows coming up so check it out. It's definitely worth the not-so-expensive price.

www.rockbus.net

What other matters are at hand...oh! Does anyone else watch Nurse Jackie? I don't have the channel for it but I watch episodes online. WHO ELSE THINKS COOP IS THE SHIZ? I just needed to put that out there. The show itself is alright, some of the typical story lines, some pretty good humour. I prefer Dr. House humour over Nurse Jackie humour but Dr. Cooper on Nurse Jackie just kills...plus his "nervous habit", perfect.

You probably will NOT hear from me tomorrow, I don't usually blog on Saturdays unless I have an urgent need to tell you all something and have access to a computer. Damn that was a long sentence. So if you don't hear from me tomorrow I will return to my lovelies on Sunday evening.

Send me some music to review, my ears are dying for something new.
Until next time.

NEWS FLASH

Ok so I have a blog to post but I need to put this in here first. I LOVE NEWBURY COMICS & TWITTER. The two combined is an orgy of happiness for me. Why? Because I win stuff. I've won stuff from them before but this morning I won THREE TICKETS TO WARPED TOUR on Tuesday @ the Comcast Center. So, no need to convince me. I have to go! All though I'm really only interested in 3 bands. I'll go for free anytime :)
Now back to my blog I originally had planned for this morning:

Good morning darlings!

Well it's morning as I'm writing this but who knows what time it will be when I actually post it. You know I have returned to my addicting blogger ways because I'm writing this in a "note" on my cell phone. I don't see any character limits yet but I'm going to test that.

Cell phones are such strange odbjects, don't you think? I mean the telephone in general (I don't know many people who have house phones anymore), what an invention. I could talk to someone in Australia if I wanted to! & if I wanted to pay the long distance... People stand in awe of all the technological advances we are making - come on touchscreens are definitely some alien shit- but I'm still in awe of the inventions from years ago. We're just improving the original. I applaud the originators. <- Is that the right word?

What started this off was my cell phone, the same piece of technology I'm blogging on right now. I'm with AT&T and just recently had an upgrade which is good because I needed a new phone and I'm too cheap to spend a couple hundred when I don't have an upgrade. My new phone with upgrade: $50. List Price: $299.99 A price I would never pay. I didn't get a phone until I was 15 or 16 and in this day and age where 9 year olds have cell phones they don't need, that's a while. What can I say. I'm a 90s kid and that's just how we do. Having a phone that slides was as big as it got for me - camera or no camera. Didn't matter. That was it.

With my upgrade I bought the LG XENON, hurling me forward into this century of cell phone technology. I've always been seduced by the idea of a cell phone with a full keyboard. I'm keyboard wizard at my laptop and couldn't wait to text at lightning speeds! Plus it does that cool little slide I've always loved. But to my surprise when I walked into Best Buy! (yes Best Buy, they were the only ones who sold the black one and was cheaper than the AT&T store) and picked up the model only to have it vibrate wildly under my palm. It was also a TOUCHSCREEN. Holy shit. For $50? Purchased. Owned. In one customer review I saw that he said he had to charge his phone every 5-6 hours. That guy must never shut up or never turn off his phone...but I have kept it running on the same battery for an entire weekend. I just shut it off at night.

That aside, I like fancy gadgets but I hate paying the price that comes with them. So I don't. My phone is probably the fanciest gadget I own (my laptop is still the love of my electronics life).

Now it's time for a bike ride before it gets too humid and the thunderstorms roll in. If you're going to WARPED TOUR on Tuesday July 21st, hit me up. We'll check out a set together. Until then...

Turn it up fuckin' loud,
